UW-Stout Professor Robert Zeidel talks to his Early U.S. History class as they view the Cal Peters painting "French Trappers on the Red Cedar" Monday, September 19, 2016 in the Dean's Conference Room in Harvey Hall. It, and “Perrault's Trading Fort”, another 1930's painting by Cal Peters, were removed from the hallways of Harvey Hall and put in more access-controlled rooms after concerns were expressed about some inaccuracies in the paintings and some stereotypical images they contained. Chancellor Bob Meyer, who attended Zeidel’s class, said he was overjoyed that the paintings were being used for educational purposes and are still available for public viewing as well. “They are a resource for us at UW-Stout to use in discussions,” Meyer said. “I’m pleased we are using them in this (classroom) context.”
